Amara Higuera is an artist and creative professional in Los Angeles. Amara engages a lens based practice to document and explore how images (still and moving) shape the histories and interpretations of people and places. She has directed music videos, self-published a chapbook, photographed album covers and is currently writing and making sound works as a practice of personal exorcism and artistic research.

Amara teaches photography and video with an anti-opressive pedagogy and a focus on media literacy. Over the years, she’s taught at Las Fotos Project, Self Help Graphics, and Los Angeles County Museum of Art. There have even been a few bilingual english/spanish classes she’s led in her time. Amara is always open to visiting your class to do a workshop or be a visiting artist,
say hi over email.
